Its time once again to put your taste buds and creativity to the test!

Howdy friends! Come join me for a night of culinary mischief! For those of you who are new our battle parties, this is a competitive cooking party where we all get together to try out each other's culinary creations based on a given theme. Ballots with all the entries will be given out, and the scores will be tallied at night's end, and a champion will be crowned. While the spirit of competition is part of the fun, we don't take ourselves seriously, so just come and have fun!

The main theme for this battle shall be the COLOR BLACK. You can use any ingredient you want. You are allowed to use other colors besides black in your presentation, but the more black you use, and the more creatively you use it, the more points will be awareded.

If you plan to do battle please remember to show up by 7:30pm, or call ahead to let me know you are bringing a dish, so I can put your entry onto the ballot.

Once again, reputations are on the line, where master chefs pit their artistic creations against each other. What inspiration will this battle bring, and how will each chef fight back? The heat will be on!

BATTLE RULES & FAQs


  1. Do I cook at your apartment or do I cook at home and bring the food over?
    Yes... please cook at home...I don't actually have a kitchen stadium in my house... that was just a joke.

  2. If I plan to enter a dish, when should I arrive?
    Between 7 and 7:30pm is best. We will need to have ballets made up before we start the tasting, so you need to be here before the ballets are handed out, which happens at 7:30pm. You can also call us before 7:30 to tell us what to put on the ballet if you can't make it by the deadline.

  3. Does EVERYTHING have to be black?

    No, you can use other colors in your presentation if you like but the more creatively you can incorporate the color black, the better!

  4. Can I bring more then one dish as my entry?
    Um... you want to bring us more stuff to eat? Who's gonna say no to that! :)
    Each dish will be judged seperately.

  5. What do I win?
    In the words of Chairman Kaga... the winner will "will gain the people's ovation and fame forever" Isn't that good enough?

  6. Should I bring some booze?
    Hell yeah. That would rock. Unless of course, you don't drink booze... then good for you...

  7. I don't want to cook... can I just come as a judge?
    Come'on cook something already you lazy... nah.. just kidding. We want to make sure there's plenty of food for everyone, so if you don't plan on cooking, maybe bring someone who does?

  8. Can I experiment and try out different recipes in the days/weeks leading up the the battle at home? or is that cheating?
    We want you to bring your best! So if you are inclined to experiment on your own before the battle day, go nuts! If you are not so inclined, and prefer to wing it on the day of the battle, good for you! Either way, it'll be tasty and we will love you for it :)

  9. How will the judging work?
    Every one at the battle will receive ballets on which they can rate each dish on taste, creativity, and presentation. All the votes will be tallied and averaged out at the end of the night to determine a winner.
    The points breakdown is:
    10 for taste
    5 for creativity
    5 for presentation
    for a total of 20 possible points per dish.
